The governor was found guilty of all 16 charges levelled against him by the lawmakers; and his removal paved the way for the speaker of the state assembly, Umaru Fintiri, to take over as acting governor. Mr. Fintiri has announced further probe of Mr. Nyako. Under the Nigerian Constitution, a new governor or president must to be elected within 90 days in the event of an impeachment of a former holder of the office.
